About MetalSmith

We are a small family run business, situated in Northamptonshire. Our factory is crammed with traditional machine tools, and the products listed, except where denoted otherwise, are designed and manufactured in-house.

The business started in 1978, then trading as Midland Railway Centre, producing a range of 7mm scale (gauge 0) model railway kits. The present company was incorporated in 1997, having expanded to include the tool and materials range whilst retaining the Midland Railway Centre brand for its model railway related products.

Today, in addition to manufacturing our own range of products, we have capacity for making specialist tooling for use by other model manufacturers in the production of their range of kits etc

We carry large stocks of brass and nickel-silver sheet and sections, which have found popularity with, amongst others, model-makers, jewellery manufacturers and musical instrument makers.

As well as other model manufacturers, we have close links with the following organisations:

• The Society of Model & Experimental Engineers (SMEE)
• Stamford Model Engineering Society
• The Gauge 0 Guild Ltd. (GOG)
• The Gauge 1 Model Railway Association (G1MRA)
• The Association of Larger Scale Model Railways (ALSRM)

In addition to supplying our products by mail order, we also attend a number of model engineering and model railway shows throughout the year, both in the UK and in France.
